Genealogical research papers, [ca. 1758-1947]

Notes, correspondence, and miscellaneous clippings and printed material, ca. 1920s-1940s, relate to his genealogical research on the Brown, Davison, Falconer, Ostrom, Seger, Smith, Steele, Stymets, Sutton, Vaughan, Wisner, and Woodruff families. Nineteenth century portrait photographs of members of the above families, and a picture of a house, Effingham Park, in West Islip, Long Island are included. Also, papers, ca. 1758-1886, largely of the Steele family of New York City. These consist primarily of accounts, receipts, and bills for such household needs as children's clothing, wine, rent, milk, tuition and school books, use of a coach, plumbing supplies, a subscription to the New York Bible Society, 1822, "sprinkling the street," 1857, and miscellaneous other expenses; and some correspondence, calling cards, and legal documents.
